Mastocytosis Society Canada (MSC) is a registered Canadian charity.
MSC was created to assist patients, caregivers and health care professionals learn more about mast cell disorders and to lean on each other for support. The audience we support is quite diverse and includes:
- newly diagnosed patients,
- patients in search of a diagnosis,
- caregivers of young children or elderly parents with mast cell concerns and
- health care professionals who are trying to provide the best health care they can to their mast cell patients.
Around the world, and in Canada, there seems to be a growing number of patients being diagnosed with mast cell disorders such as Mastocytosis and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Often times, these patients have never heard of this diagnosis and immediately take to researching it on-line. MSC is here to support these patients by:
- Helping them understand the facts about mast cell disorders and the triggers and symptoms that many patients experience.
- Helping them find a health care professional with knowledge and experience with mast cell disorders close to their location.
- Providing them information on diagnostic testing, medications and other questions to ask their health care professionals.
- Suggesting ways to help improve their quality of life through diet, eliminating triggers and managing their environment.
- Creating educational curriculums for patients and health care professionals to help educate and raise awareness of mast cell disorders to speed up diagnosis and improve quality of patient’s lives.
Although MSC is mainly focused on providing support to Canadian residents, we are happy to extend that support to patients around the world who are suffering from this debilitating disease.
